As the only designer at an early-stage startup, I built a design system in code in about three weeks, with AI doing the production work while I made the design decisions. The developers built their component library straight from it.
I joined close to the finish line. The UI no longer matched how the feature worked, so I redesigned the key screens and built the working relationship the team needed to get those changes in.
An integration looked like an obvious fit, but nobody had checked whether customers used the product on the other side. I planned the research and led the synthesis. The findings stopped the build before any engineering time was spent on it.
